New Policy on Student Messages

New Policy on Student Messages

Below is a new policy on student messages that the board approved at the Dec. 3 BOD meeting.

Message Policy

Purpose

This purpose of this policy is to provide clarification of the YRCS procedure regarding delivering messages to students while at school.

In General

Children perform best and the class runs more smoothly when a regular rhythm is upheld. Delivering messages interrupts the class, disrupting the rhythm and impedes the staff from other duties which may include medical assistance, among other responsibilities. Therefore we ask that whenever possible the parent communicate with their child before they come to school. It is in the best interest of the child to know what is going to occur during their day, and to be able to ask questions of parents if plans are out of the norm.

Messages are delivered if the situation is an emergency. A change of plans is not generally considered an emergency such as: different person picking up after school, after school arrangements altered, forgotten doctor appointment etc.
