Ashley Johnson

Assistant Director

Ashley Johnson has been a dedicated part of YRCS for over 13 years—first as a parent and now in her 9th year in administration. As the Assistant Director, she works behind the scenes in the back office, furiously typing away, managing enrollment, scheduling, communication, and just about anything that calls for a spreadsheet. Before joining YRCS, Ashley spent 12 years as an Activity Director in Assisted Living, a role that nurtured her love for community-building. Her passion for public Waldorf education fuels her commitment to seeing it thrive and grow. She finds joy in streamlining systems, making processes more efficient, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. Ashley describes her role as the “Overseer of Details”, but her favorite moments are when teachers invite her into the classroom to witness the magic of learning in action.

Originally from Southern California, Ashley is an adventurer at heart—she has traveled to over 30 countries and 47 states! When she’s not at work, she loves camping with her husband of 20+ years and her two teenagers, reading, playing with her dog, and enjoying family game nights. A true kindred spirit, Ashley’s favorite quote comes from Anne of Green Gables: “Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It’s splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world.” – L.M. Montgomery. If she could share a meal with anyone, it would be Anne Shirley—specifically the grown-up Anne from the 8th book. With her love for details, stories, and connection, we think they’d have plenty to talk about!
