Mr. Calloway is in his fifth year at YRCS, bringing passion, experience, and a deep appreciation for Waldorf education to the middle school. His educational journey began at a Waldorf high school in Pennsylvania, where he fell in love with this holistic approach to learning. Before joining YRCS, he taught at a Waldorf charter school in Orange County, CA. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Prescott College in Arizona, a Master’s degree and teaching credential from Chapman University, and a Waldorf teacher training certificate from the Waldorf School of Orange County. With a strong foundation in both traditional and Waldorf pedagogy, he works to meet each student’s individual learning needs while fostering a sense of connection and curiosity about the world.

For Mr. Calloway, the best part of working at YRCS is building community—both with students and their families, as well as with colleagues. He values the creativity and freedom that come with being an educator and finds joy in getting kids into nature, helping them strengthen their class community through play, study, hard work, and reflection. His favorite moments in the classroom? When students ask thought-provoking, insightful questions that spark deep discussion.

Originally from Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, Mr. Calloway enjoys biking, environmental activism, family time, and eating great Mexican food. A fun fact? He is an Eagle Scout! His favorite authors include Ray Bradbury, John Steinbeck, and Margaret Atwood, and if he could share a meal with anyone from history, it would be Theodore Roosevelt—someone he admires for his reflections on grit and tenacity. Having recently relocated from Southern California, Mr. Calloway is thrilled to be part of the YRCS community and looks forward to many more years of learning and growth with his students.
