Grade Eight Lead Teacher
Ms. Kate has been a dedicated educator at YRCS for 11 years, primarily teaching middle school students. She holds a Bachelor of Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, a teaching credential from Sac State/U.C. Davis, and a Waldorf teaching credential from Antioch University in New Hampshire. In addition to her academic background, she is also a highly trained dancer, actor, and singer, bringing creativity and expression into her teaching. She found her way to YRCS through a friend who worked at the school. Ready for a change, she applied—and she’s been grateful ever since. What she loves most about YRCS is the students, describing them as curious, kind, talented, and exceptionally bright. They make her excited to wake up and come to work each day.
Ms. Kate approaches teaching with love and respect for each student, honoring their individuality as they navigate their middle school years. She strives to empower students with the skills and capacities they need to thrive in the world beyond YRCS. Her favorite part of the school day is greeting her students and beginning their time together.
Born in Hawaii and Tonga and later raised in Auburn, CA, Ms. Kate has a deep love for singing, dance, and theater. A surprising fact? She’s actually more shy than people think! She lives by the simple yet powerful mantra: “Bloom where you are planted.” Ms. Kate is grateful to be part of the YRCS community and looks forward to continuing to inspire and uplift her students.
