Health and Safety Aide
Gramma Sandi has been a beloved part of YRCS since 2005, bringing warmth, care, and a watchful eye to the school community. As the Health & Safety Aid, she’s everywhere she’s needed—whether that’s offering a comforting presence, keeping things running smoothly, or just reminding herself (and others) to breathe.
Her journey to YRCS began with a birthday visit for her granddaughter, where she fell in love with the Waldorf way of life. She playfully blames Teacher Doris for drawing her in, but it’s clear she’s exactly where she’s meant to be. What she loves most? The incredible people—students, staff, and families—who make the school feel like home.
Gramma Sandi grew up in both Minnesota and California, and outside of school, she enjoys reading, sewing, meditation, and thrift store treasure hunts. A lifelong adventurer, she once worked as a gold dredger! She carries with her the wisdom of “The Serenity Prayer” and would love to share a meal with Buddha, soaking in his presence and insights.
Beyond her official role, Gramma Sandi is a grandmother to two adult children, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild—and “Gramma” to countless YRCS students over the years. Her heart is big enough for all of them.
