Little Creek Assistant
Sarah Nelson is in her first year at YRCS, bringing warmth, enthusiasm, and a deep love for early childhood education to Little Creek Preschool. With a B.A. in Early Childhood Education, she has dedicated her studies to understanding and nurturing the unique magic of preschool-aged children.
Her journey into this field began in high school while nannying and babysitting. She quickly realized that working with children—especially those between ages 2-5—was her true calling. Without hesitation, she declared her major in ECE as a freshman and has loved every step of the journey since.
At YRCS, Sarah cherishes the slow-paced, intentional curriculum, which honors natural rhythms and the wonder of childhood. She deeply believes that learning is a two-way street—just as children learn from her, she learns from them every day. The heart-centered work at Little Creek creates a truly profound and meaningful experience for both teachers and students.
If she had to sum up her role in one sentence? She’s an improv song-singer, open-hearted leader, and an endless source of hugs.
Sarah grew up in Marin County, California, and outside of school, she loves gardening, reading, interior design, aromatherapy, hiking, and swimming in the Yuba River with her family. A favorite quote that resonates with her is from Pink Floyd: “All you touch and all you see is all your life will ever be.” She also finds deep inspiration in Wendell Berry’s poem, The Peace of Wild Things.
