Emma is a proud YRCS alumna who grew up in the Grass Valley area and now brings her passion for education back to the school community. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychological and Brain Sciences from UC Santa Barbara and is on the path to earning her teaching credential, with the goal of building a career in education—ideally in a Waldorf setting. Emma brings high energy, enthusiasm, and a love for learning to her role, supporting both second grade and kindergarten students. She finds joy in main lesson time with second grade and the creative, nurturing environment of aftercare. Working at YRCS is a dream come true, and she deeply values the dedicated teachers, supportive families, and imaginative children who make the school so special.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys rock climbing, knitting, collaging, hiking, thrifting, road-tripping, and spending time with friends and family. As a bilingual first-generation American, she speaks both English and Dutch, a reflection of her Dutch heritage. She also has a deep love for Shakespeare, having performed in over 20 of his plays during her youth. Emma’s favorite book at the moment is Wild by Cheryl Strayed, and she lives by the spirit of adventure it embodies. She is incredibly grateful to be part of the YRCS community and looks forward to continuing to grow alongside the students she supports.
