25 Mar Letter from the Director on Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and Accountablity Plan (LCAP)
Dear YRCS Families,
As a charter school, we are uniquely designed to implement an educational program that meets the needs of our families. Through our Board of Trustees, Parent Council, and Faculty, we have developed a program around the Waldorf Curriculum that is innovative and responsive, which sets us apart from traditional schooling. That is one of the reasons over 100 families are waiting for an opening at our school and want to be a part of shaping our future. It is for this reason that we welcome the change across California, that now schools will have a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to improve transparency in funding and to tie student success to their use of public funds.
On March 28, 2014 at noon in the auditorium, YRCS will hold a public meeting with the full board in attendance to discuss the topics of the LCAP. This process, which will also inform our long range planning, is an excellent opportunity for the voices of all stakeholders to be heard. Collaboration, modification, adaptation, and celebration – this is what charter schools do for our children. Please participate in this and other meetings around our school’s future. A video of the proceedings will be archived on the website. The school newsletter will also have additional opportunities listed for your comments.
Sincerely,
Caleb J. Buckley, Ed.D.
