Credentialed School Nurse
Lisa Poggensee has been a nurse for almost 30 years. She is the school nurse for Nevada County Charter Services Authority (NCCSA). She has the primary responsibility for supporting the school
health programs and special education health related services for the five public charter schools that NCCSA supports: Bitney Prep High School, Forest Charter School (Nevada City, Truckee, Auburn and Foresthill school sites), Nevada City School of the Arts, Twin Ridges Home Study Charter (Nevada City, Truckee and Wheatland school sites) and Yuba River Charter School. She earned her BSN from San Jose State University in 1995, and after graduating she accepted a commission in the United States Navy and served as an oncology nurse, certified post-anesthesia nurse (CPAN) and a department head in charge of outpatient clinic-based occupational health and wellness programs. Upon discharge from the Navy, Lisa spent 3 years as a post-anesthesia recovery room nurse.
In 2010, Lisa started working in schools. First as a site nurse in a classified position at Coronado Village elementary school for five years, then she accepted a credentialed position at South Bay
Union School District in San Diego. She received her School Nurse Services Credential from Fresno State University in 2018. She has been active with CSNO since 2011.
During Covid, Lisa dreamed of returning to northern California to be closer to family, and was able to make those dreams a reality. She worked as a district nurse at Marysville Joint Unified School
District for two years before making the move to her current position with Nevada County Charter Services. Lisa has also spent seven summers working as a camp nurse in Pennsylvania at Pine Forest Camp and Lake Owego Camp.
In her free time Lisa enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and being outdoors in nature- hiking, camping and paddleboarding. She is the proud mother of a son currently attending University of Washington in Seattle.
