Hello fellow YRCS families,

It is official!  We are ready for families to sign up for shifts during the Nevada County Fair!

 Treat Street Daily Schedule

As many of you know, Parent Council and a larger team of parents have been working on getting a concession booth this year on the Treat Street extension at the Nevada County Fair (near the entrance of gate 5).  The goal of running this booth annually is to make sure that all YRCS classes have a consistent and efficient way to raise money for the cumulative 8th grade field trip. 

We will be selling natural foods: jumbo turkey legs, jumbo pickles, bags of chips, La Croix and bottled water. 

We have been told that this booth can possibly bring in $25K gross. But first we need to clean it up and get it up to code. This year we are shooting for a net profit of about $4K since we have start up expenses and are new and unsure of how much we will actually sell.  Profits from this year will go towards final renovations for next year, and anything beyond that will go towards the classes that participate based on percentage of participation. 

“Working the Booth” includes needed repair and clean-up days in the weeks to come, helping with transporting food and supplies, staffing the booth during the fair, and clean-up at the end. The work we do now together will create a legacy for YRCS families, we need all of you.  Come one, come all!

I am also attaching for volunteers a required reading handbook from the fairgrounds that goes over all the rules and regulations for the volunteers. 2017 Vendor Handbook

 

Here are a list of items we need donated for use during the fair:

  • wagon or rolling cart for turkey leg carriers
  • 6 large ice chests
  • 2 pair Oven Mitts/pads
  • Aprons (or bring your own)
  • 3 13 gallon trash cans
  • Free standing portable A/C unit (it’ll be hot in there)
  • about 20 milk crates

If you can donate any of these items please email Taitha taitha.killion@gmail.com so we can co-ordinate drop off (Pick-up will be Monday the 14th.  There is also a list of these needs on the google sheet under Duties so you can add the items there. The Back to School Registration event for all families at YRCS is from 4-6pm on the 14th, fyi.)

On the Treat Street Booth daily schedule on Google Docs, there are six sheets to look through: the 1st is the job duties, 2nd – 6th are the work hours for the days of the fair and the 7th is Monday for cleaning up the booth and picking up your donated items. Please look over the duties and time slots carefully and make sure all contact info is there.
